“Comparison is the death of joy.”
It seems that everyone loves to flex online lately about their wins.
- The campaign they launched that got crazy results.
- Their soloprenuer business that is going to make over $1M this year.
- How quickly they grew their newsletter.
- How quickly they grew their social following.
- The company that is making ever top growing company list.
It can make even relatively successful people feel like they are crap at what they do.
Want to know a secret though?
- The campaign they launched that got crazy results: Their sales team hates and it didn’t drive any actual revenue.
- Their soloprenuer business that is going to make over $1M this year: They are looking for a full time job because turns out they aren’t killing it
- How quickly they grew their newsletter: They are just buying low cost followers and scraping lists. Their open rate is 10%.
- How quickly they grew their social following: They are using engagement pods and paying for like.
- The company that is making ever top growing company list: They are 40% behind plan and just had layoffs.
Want a real life example from just this week? Ever wonder how some accounts seem to get crazy engagement on LinkedIn even though the content seems basic?

Or in some cases buying as many as 500 of them.
This is an actual post from someone in a marketing facebook group I am in that I saw yesterday:
So a friday reminder for all of you - the internet is not a real place.
So is everyone faking it or are there people actually crushing it out in the real world? Absolutely there are, but in my experience they are rarely the ones you actually see bragging about it online.
So stop wasting your energy comparing yourself to other people’s marketing or other people’s companies - because most of what you are comparing yourself to isn’t even real.
